Volunteeers are the backbone of any non-profit organization. But, for ICARE, volunteers are extra special because we have no paid employees. They make a huge contribution to the health and welfare of our Shelter animals.

Shelter Dogwalkers - We can never have too many dedicated Shelter dogwalkers. These tireless volunteers truly perform a lifesaving service for our Shelter dogs. They not only help relieve the stress and boredom a Shelter dog faces each day, but they teach them basic obedience and how to walk on a leash. All of this makes them more adoptable, so they can find the loving homes they are longing for.

Foster Homes - There is a great need for a network of loving foster homes to provide temporary care for orphaned or injured cats, kittens, dogs and puppies. It helps free up valuable space at the Shelter until the cat or dog can be placed up for adoption.

Pet Transporters - We are "Pet Partners" with the the Marin Humane Society in the San Francisco Bay Area. When our Shelter becomes overcrowded, the Marin Humane Society can oftentimes help by taking some of our adoptable animals. We need reliable pet transporters who travel from Bishop/Big Pine/Mammoth Lakes to the Bay Area. If you can help transport, please let us know your travel plans in advance. Thank You!

If you love animals and have any time at all to help, we promise you will be rewarded with a sense of accomplishment and pride in helping animals in need.
